Want to notify your users about Global Language Switcher? Consider creating a site alert! Follow the instructions in our DXE Help Center article here.

Overview

The Global Language Switcher changes the HealthHub experience for your users to the language they select. All text—including headers, badges, menu items, footer items, etc.—will translate to the selected language.

This is different from the Contextual Language Switcher in the header section of HealthHub articles, which only translates the body of the article.

The Global Language Switcher currently supports the following languages:

  • English
  • Spanish

Where to find the Global Language Switcher

In desktop view: the Global Language Switcher is accessible in the top right of the HealthHub site window.

In mobile view: first click the three line icon to display the primary navigation menu. The Global Language Switcher can be found near the bottom of the expanded menu.

How to use

Click the Global Language Switcher dropdown, then select the desired language.

After selecting a different language, HealthHub will translate all text to that language.

Note: If a user is looking at an article and sets the Global Language Switcher to a language that is not available for that article, HealthHub will instead redirect to a search results page in the selected language displaying articles with matching translations.

Navigating in a different language

Navigating the site in different languages works very similar. However, there are no enhanced layout landing pages for alternate languages than English. Clicking a Health Center or Collection term will instead navigate to a search page filtered by that term.

Clicking an item in the primary navigation menu will display a translated list of topics.

Clicking a topic displays a list of search results pre-filtered with that topic.

The site-wide search bar is still available and displays placeholder text in the selected language. Search results are limited to articles with matching translations.

The Contextual Language Switcher still appears when viewing an article and can be selected to translate the article body to another language. The rest of the site will retain the language selected in the Global Language Switcher.
